Our Little Lambs Child Care Development Center is located on the campus of "Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church" 801 South 28th Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40211.

 

Child Care services start from 6:00am to Midnight ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.

We are extending our child care services because of a great demand within our community.  Our second site for the Little Lambs Child Care Development Center is located at 370 N 26th Street, Louisville, Kentucky  40212.

Mission Statement  

The Little Lambs Child Care Development Center is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all children. We seek to create a high quality, developmentally appropriate atmosphere for learning.

Our Center works in partnership with our families. Cooperation and communication between the staff and our families keep our children happy, healthy, and safe.

OVERVIEW

 

• To provide quality child care development services for families within the community, and other surrounding areas.

• We plan to carry out our goals by successfully obtaining a child care license, following state regulations, hiring experienced teachers and maintaining a positive learning environment.

• Our work will contribute to educational research, policy and practice because we intend to run our facility like a school. The child care participants will be taught in a manner that emphasizes Literacy and Physical Fitness. They will be engaged in a series of daily lessons, activities and programs that will give them a jump-start in school. As students exit our program and enter the public or private schools, the staff will be amazed with the student’s educational levels and abilities during their first years in school.

Educational Philosophy

Our educational philosophy is child centered. Early childhood years are the most formative time in human development. The foundation for self-esteem is laid, and children learn to adapt successfully to the world. We encourage the development of critical thinking skills, creativity, imagination, and self-expression.

The environment of the Little Lambs Child Care Development Center is one of care and respect for each child as an individual. We encourage the child to be independent and to be responsible for his/her own actions.

Our teachers seek to create an environment for learning. During a typical day each child spends time in individual and group activities, alternating quiet and active times. There are many kinds of learning:

• Creative expression: art, humanities, music, movement and practical living.
• Social relationships: small and large group activities and one on one.
• Communication skills: puppetry, storytelling, and sharing.
• Reading readiness: matching, sorting, letter recognition, sequencing, writing, and language expression.
• Math readiness and conceptual skills: sorting, sequencing activities, games and number recognition.
• Environmental science awareness: nature walks, pets, and plants.
• Motor skills: movement climbing, rhythm, dancing and physical fitness.
• Enrichment: Field trips and classroom visitors.
